So being a Christian is like a fairytale? When one can be obedient without a pinch of rebellious nature I think that it can't be too difficult. But then... you first have to reach that level of obedience. In our struggle through life that's just the part where it gets difficult.
For myself it's a matter of being confronted in the secular world, everywhere outside of the church community. It's really hard to step up when things go wrong and you should stand up and show that you are different. One know the way, but one fails to go on it. It's like taking a walk on a footpath or taking a stroll on a green lawn that's not been "de-thorned".
Taking the footpath that is showing you a clear way will get you from A to B because that is where the path leads to. Strolling on a lawn can be somewhat different. You don't know where you should really go because there is no indication of where to walk and with that all the thorns have a great environment to grow in.
OK, I see that my analogy does not want to get the message over properly. Plainly put: When taking instructions from a manual, you will get a machine working. Not doing so might cause you to still get to the machine working, but you are not guaranteed to know everything there is to know.
In the same manner we can live as Christians trying to go through life without a manual. Hence the trying. We can try, but we will never succeed without our Manual, the Bible. I'm talking out of experience since I've been "disconnected" from God for longer than what is good for me. I'm not proud to say that. It's a confession. It's also easier to rather blend in at work and not be the example of how our lives should be lived. I can't imagine how disappointed God must be in me for every time I did not stood up for his Name.
This week I'm going to attempt standing up to the one lady at work. She's new there, but that doesn't give her the right to use God's name in vain. But how will I do this? If everyone in our office was Christians (supposedly) that would not be as difficult as when there are different religions. I trust that God will help me to achieve my target this week.
